Proficient Health headed south to attend the Florida Association of ACOs Conference in Orlando on November 3-5. FLAACOs was held in a hybrid setting this year, allowing us to meet with attendees in person and through the Whova App. It was great to be back in person with so many of our colleagues and hear directly from industry leaders about the current opportunities and challenges faced by accountable care organizations.
Thursday morning started with a networking breakfast that allowed us to get to know some of the other attendees before hearing from the keynote speaker, Brent Asplin, MD, MPH. Following the keynote presentation, we had the opportunity to learn from numerous other ACO professionals about a variety of topics including incorporating Telehealth to traditional health services, the effects of Covid-19 on ACOs, the new versus current CMMI models, using data to improve quality of service, and so much more! The first night ended with the Summer Nights Party where we were able to hear firsthand from ACO leaders about what challenges they are facing in their organizations, and what they are planning for the year ahead.
The final day of FLAACOs began with breakfast and a keynote presentation from Jack Cochran, MD. Dr. Cochran’s session was followed by three panel-style presentations. The first panel discussed the need for innovation for mental health in value-based care. The next session stressed the importance of hospital-level care being brought to the patient’s home to often increase safety and eliminate expenses. The last panel of the event was made up of key executives from each of the national insurance payors. During their session, they shared their upcoming value-based care network and contract strategies.
Proficient Health had an amazing time at FLAACOs! We brought back a lot of valuable information that will help us better serve accountable care organizations and enjoyed getting to meet and learn from so many of our industry peers and leaders.
